About

MY BACKGROUND

“Success is a ladder that cannot be climbed with your hands in your pockets.”

With a foundation in professional business organizations as early as high school and working through my undergraduate studies while staying involved in campus activities, I have started a legacy of excellence that will only continue to grow.

Currently, I’m a graduate student at The University of Alabama studying Advertising and Public Relations and an intern with Southern Company in the Federal Services division. Previously, I have worked with University of Alabama EcoCAR in community involvement and K-12 education initiatives, Alabama Credit Union in external marketing strategy as an intern, and Platform Magazine on written and digital content ranging from op-eds to research articles.

I’m a jack of all trades – and a master of some! I’m certified in the three core Microsoft programs, have proficiency in Adobe InDesign, and have in-depth experience in concepting & implementation, research design, and content writing and editing for publication. Keep scrolling to see more about my impact and check out my contact information below.

                                                                                                                With Great Pleasure,

Jackson T. Olmstead

Why Is This Page Green?

SOMETHING I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT

This website has been themed in a light green color in honor of pulmonary fibrosis awareness.

In 2012, my mother, Patricia, was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) following an extended illness caused by an rheumatoid autoimmune disorder. Throughout her 11-year battle with this disease, and eventually cancer, she worked with multiple specialists at UAB Medicine and DCH Health System to manage her condition. This period was difficult for our family amid rising costs of prescription medications that she required to survive, as well as difficulty finding affordable access to supplemental oxygen, which she required 24 hours a day.

After her passing in February 2023, I began working with the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation as a PFF Advocate, reaching out to my local and state legislators to encourage their support for lowering life-saving medications and accessible oxygen therapy options for patients living with lung disorders like my mom.

Her memory has been immortalized on the campus of her alma mater, The University of Alabama, at the Crimson Promenade and Greek Assembly Hall. We also work to sponsor events at the Alabama FBLA State Leadership Conference in her honor, the most recent being the Healthcare Administration event.
